When I worked for a power utility, I got called out to inspect a boiling (yes, boiling) power transformer. A weed operation in a house served by the transformer was using so much power for such a long time in the heat of summer that the transformer was about to explode if we didn't disconnect their power.
It turns out the grow op had illegally bypassed the meter too, so they weren't paying for the power. Just goes to show there are valid reasons for doing this, even if it's a bit excessive to report them to law enforcement directly.
Unless you have a reason to, I wouldn't recommend a secondary profile as a daily driver yet. SMS doesn't work perfectly and plenty of other bugs I've noticed which sometimes you have to switch to the Owner profile to access certain things, and sometimes things just don't work in secondary profiles.
That being said, I've made it work. If you have a reason to use this threat model then do it.
I'd say there's a darn good point if Meta doesn't want you to use one.
There used to be a great frontend for Instagram that was sued and forced to cease development when all it allowed you to do is browse Instagram on an account in this private frontend app.

The only reason I chose to support S Notes in the first place is they were the best designed FOSS notes app at the time, and 4 years later they have plenty of competition in that space fortunately. Honestly I expected better from them, they say all the right things but I guess the greed just got too much for them.
Even if what they're doing is legal, it still has a negative impact on the privacy community. F-droid no longer providing Standard Notes builds is going to cut off people from using this app's updates going forward. It may end up being relegated to the IzzyOnDroid repo, but still not everyone uses that.
At least Signal provides a method outside of F-droid for automatic updates.
Yes, totally agree. It was actually a great growth opportunity to start learning new skills and become more self reliant. Now instead of trusting Google or Microsoft with my data, I can trust myself to keep it safe.
Mine started with some random guy posting a google doc about how to use uBlockOrigin to not only block ads but also to block 3rd party scripts & frames, and see what all your internet connected to.
After the paranoia set in from seeing just how many connections are made from every single click, I got intensely interested in how much more I could do to regain privacy. It's been a very deep rabbit hole.
