Definitely back up! One of he things that I like about my older readers is that they use an SD card that I can just pop out and put in a different reader. I'm not sure why they've removed that option in modern readers. Ok, I'm sure it's due to form factor and cost, but I still prefer to have my books loaded on the SD card instead of the reader itself.
Hopefully KOReader makes a super simple UI version for it. I still wanna support these smaller readers because of the innovation. I am hearing so much about the ESP32 chip now. I need to look into it more, because some people are even building heir own ereaders, and 3d printing the case. Which sounds amazing.
Sounds awesome. I haven't even seen one in real life yet, and I ordered one the other day. So when if finally gets here, I'll update the software to the community-driven open source one right away. I'm not sure I will be able to read on a small screen. Guess I'm going to find out in a few days!
When you say it doesn't support a lot your books, what do you mean? What kind of books?
I got the XTEINK X3 on Amazon for $55. I don't have any experience with the pocket size readers, so this will be my first one. Not sure what you consider pocket size, but the the smaller older Kindles and small Nooks are on ebay for pretty cheap sometimes.
I chose the X3 because it's a little bigger, but still pocket size. I still uses standard USB cord. I'm no longer going to buy tech that has proprietary cords. What sucks is that the X3 is taking a much longer time to get here. I still have 10 days before I get it. I want it right now! 😄
Ok, this is a really weird comment. Who is Aaron? I have an ereader community and this is for letting people know about it. What AI is in my communities? I write about ereaders and ebooks and I don't use AI at all. I'm not offering to filter anyones news or entertainment or coasters. I got a message from the admin of my instance saying that it's a good idea to post new communities here. Is this not the community for talking about new communities?
Thanks. You can't see it in this pic, but it's just a little too glossy for me. I'd love it if it wasn't so shiny in regular light. But again, still better than the stained case that I covered with it. lol
That's annoying, for sure! I sorta have same issue. I have a small collection of ereaders, but my most read/used ones are still Kindles. They are more common, and more supported. Everyone gripes about Amazon (with lots of good reasons), but for me, they have always had great products and best return policy. In my personal experience, no one beats them... yet.
Seriously, how many hoops are we supposed to jump through just to avoid a big corporations?! These smaller companies don't seem to even try. I understand that they're outmatched production-wise, but if they cranked up their customer service, that'd make me want to support them more.

I'm super picky about my fonts too. It's one of my biggest gripes in the early kindles. I didn't like their defaut font system.
