I lived in South East Asia for many years and experienced many difficulties using internet services that were built without testing them in difficult situations or with old cheap phones. I have made PieFed with those concerns in mind.
@feddit-admin@rimu@piefed.social As the effect on other fediverse systems (and PieFed!) is unknown, I have altered the registration form so that only A-Z and 0-9 characters are accepted as a user name.
@codewizard @fediverse @Snoopy @Jerry @praveen @ml PieFed is a good fit for developing countries as it has low client requirements and low bandwidth requirements.

The workflow is a wee bit clunky, with the browser popping up things more than I'd like, but it works.
