Which live-action did you watch?
Most of international fans outside Asia and anime-centric casual fans only watch badly adapted live-action from shonen action manga.
Most of live-action are relatively well.
Judging manga/light novel live-action adaptation as all bad is like watching live action of cringe teen Western vampire novel then thinking all live-action adaptation from novel are all bad.
First, recognize that most of these are live action adapted from manga or light novel, not anime.
Once you recognize that, there are tons of manga/ranobe witch live-action adaptation, and no anime adaptation at all.
There are tons of good live-action adaptation, but mostly only with realistic settings. Shoujo, josei, and seinen media gets live-action adaptation, but not anime.
Some example of good one:
Nodame Cantabile
City Hunter (any version are interesting, from Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, Hongkong (with Jackie Chen), even French live-action adaptation)
Alice in Borderland (had so many changes from the manga, especially for games that are too Japanese, possibly to make it easier for global audience?)

Second: There are tons of live-action from manga and light novel that are hugely popular, it's just never reach anime-centric Western audience.
Like Meteor Garden, City Hunter, Nodame Cantabile, Rurouni Kenshin, Imawa no Kuni no Alice, Kimi ni Todoke, Liar Game, and so on.
