My understanding is, when they design a road they do calculate the "engineering speed limit", the safe speed given road geometry and surface and visibility, etc., but then they mostly ignore it and assign an arbitrary limit from the standard list for that type of roadway.
We botched raising the limit for 400-series. We should have gone to 120km/h with actual enforcement, but what we did was 110 and a wink, and now 1 in 3 drivers do 130km/h.

When I was a teenager, we stayed at a campground in Maine that had bunnies. Hundreds of bunnies, and totally habituated to humans.
They could hear a cereal box open, and they'd come in a mob to demand treats.
They'd follow you to the outhouse at night. Dozens of bunnies, a couple metres behind you, enough to make an audible rustling noise as they moved. When you came back out, there's be all these little faces, waiting expectantly.
It was unsettling at times, but super cool.

Doug Ford is the premier of Ontario. His brother Rob was the mayor of Toronto (Ontario's biggest city). He was very famous for abusing alcohol and other drugs while in office, then he died of cancer.

I love these stories, but the first message actually transmitted was more likely along the lines of "what about now?" or "test payload 7".

Vivaldi is my daily driver, looking into Librewolf as my not-Chrome.
What I'd really like is the Vivaldi shell, as & tracker blocking, etc, with the Firefox HTML & js engines. No google or moz bullshit, just a nice clean shell and engines.

Tufted titmice are the best! They're so scruffy and floofy!
