from all my basic investigations back then, it might be mostly about the part of their drivers that manages power delivery and consumption / power states and so on
it might not help you at all but if you have a chance to run your setup temporarily on Cachy — I would give it a shot — there are some kernel level optimizations and tweaks done there, maybe they figured some work around for that problematic part
no clue if my scenario is anyhow close to your situation but what sounds familiar is the freeze part
while for me it was for a second or so, from time to time, it got really annoying
all started after nvidia drivers got pushed to AUR — so if your GPU is newer than mine, this is where my assumption is wrong..
checked and did everything I could, memory, drives, psu, danced naked under the full moon..
so I switched to CachyOS with guesstimation that the person maintaining the drivers is someone from the Cachy team, they even have their own repo for them.. — following that, jumped from my ~3 yo Arch install mostly just having hopes
and everything is fine
for now..
so, I don’t want to push you away from the distro of your choosing but, personally, I already learned for myself: until I have anything nvidia in my setup, I have more work to do and more things to check / worry about, always
take a screenshot of the div in question, set it as a background for the body and make it no-repeat, center center.. don’t forget to slap some fancy 100vh for the body too..
done! It will even render exactly the same so it is cross-browser ready!
use the option cover and it will work for all screen sizes and resolutions!
add diabolical-laughter-047.mp3 as the unstoppable music loop and like seven useless frameworks for additional style points, ohh and like three font families.. just in case.. and definitely some analytics from BIG G
I mean, I don’t have any control now on how this one specific situation is just in one bag with that album, for me this is the package as I got it then and there
I have some other stories like this
but generally those memories are more people based, with appreciation for them and music has its own value.. and some form of appreciation for the artists
so.. yeah, music has its own, separate field(s) to grow on in my internal space
let me talk in terms of memories not just about music
is ’01 or ’02, I am just a kid going with my class for a camping trip, our bus is cruising thru the woods, early afternoon, we are not the most crazy bunch of idiots but we all have plenty of stupid ideas — so all is great, lot of laughs, some singing and so on
one of my friends comes to me, she was always the one with headphones everywhere.. and in her own world most of the time — „hey, you have to listen to this, I just know you will like this song“, she sits next to me, gives me one earbud, clicks something on her discman a few times and blasts Idioteque
song ended, I look at her, she looks at me, I am mostly processing what just happened.. and she goes „wanna listen to the entire album with me?“
if there is a way to make „fuck yeah“ face, I made it right away
the bus disappeared, all the noises, just some trees in the background flashing from time to time, we were so gone
sure, later I had to re-listen the entire album back at home but still, if there is a list of the most pleasant and spontaneous music discoveries and explorations, that was the perfect moment to just leave reality and enter the world of music
don’t waste too much time and energy trying to open some doors. Sometimes there’s a different path there waiting for you and sometimes the room is just not worth visiting

and one of the most precious things I ever heard, not even a straightforward advice, just pure, genuine gold:
„As a man, entire world can judge me and I don’t care all that much, I am not perfect, I make mistakes, I may fall, I may fail, I may hurt, I may help, I learn and I try my best.. and I am not scared of any of that, I can handle that.. or even learn how to handle it better.
BUT as a father, only you and your brother can judge me and about that judgement.. I care the most and being a father is my biggest responsibility and the most scary thing I have ever done in my life and possibly will ever do. I know you are still young and you don’t have to but please just understand that as much as you can.“
vanilla arch user here, the installation is a totally different experience but it just gets you into that „go, read / listen and just try to understand what you are doing“ mode.. which, in a long run, is quite helpful. Third year now, still mostly no clue what I am doing most of the time, but plenty of fun has been had in the meantime.
with the direction that Wind(r)ow(n)s took some time ago, I am willing to even write 0s and 1s by hand on a wet toilet paper to just avoid it. Super happy to see CachyOS or SteamOS grow, actually any distro getting popular is a great thing, more users, more knowledge, more problems being pointed out.
for me, no option to follow posts / comments, mostly to see new comments / replies and create proper aggregation of responses, any opinion dynamics and so on — this makes everything very temporary / short lived
solid IMIN experience tho

wasn’t it more about how he got annoyed with people decompiling the game to search for hidden stuff and to brute force some of the puzzles?
that’s the part of why he doesn’t want to make games anymore I remember

still kinda crazy for me, how they stumbled upon exactly 2500 gold coins — feels like some arbitrary, made up amount..
we have some strong deficit of Trinities, Scullys, Ripleys and Connors tho..
file formats I mostly use: SVG, PDF, PNG, JPG, TIFF, MKV, MP4

yup, don’t go .rar, go .zip
I invested into those lemmy.zip shares, this is my first comment, fresh start, sure .world will grow but other instances will grow too.
the biggest lesson from all this is administration / moderation burnout is a really big factor and something that needs addressing somehow.
