Same. I've been using DDG as my default for years, but it's main strength for me is using !g to redo the search after not finding anything good the first time.
I'm giving Comaps a try. I try OsmAnd every few months and always have issues with it, but Comaps has been solid (for all of 2 round trips so far lol).
Very mixed feelings on System1. I was digging into a Firefox forks and dismissed Waterfox because of the connection. Totally willing to believe they're better than Google (like Bluesky to Twitter) but that's such a low bar.
Honestly find this kind of frustrating; it reminds me of the exodus from Twitter to Bluesky. Everyone is jumping ship from one private, proprietary, for-profit service to another without seemingly learning any lesson. It seems like just kicking the enshitification slightly further down the road.
I feel like a lot of the specific criticisms you're getting are valid, but I mostly agree with you on the broad strokes. I didn't come here because I hate Reddit, I came here because I hate what Reddit became.* I'm glad you're populating my feed with interesting posts, although I hope you take the feedback here (especially about accreditation) to heart.
*what I actually hate about Reddit is the culture of unaccountable moderators that can do whatever they want with no recourse just because they claimed a subreddit name first, and your quadruple moderation comment also rings true. This is like my fourth instance before finally finding one that doesn't defederate any communities I want to follow.
Paywalled, maybe I'm wrong. But no, it's not stuck on empty. It's stuck at 35%, pretty much the exact same as Biden during his term, and Trump during his first term. Approval ratings seem increasingly useless.
Not complaining about Motorola, just about flagship phones in general. I assume (incorrectly, maybe?) that the vast majority of people use their phones for light browsing, social media, etc. and don't need flagship features. Having to pay a flagship premium would suck... especially when all I really want is my Pixel 4a5g back lol.
I feel like every few years there's a new Linux smartphone but the tech doesn't seem to be there yet from a user standpoint. I think the most recent I saw was the Volla Phone Quintus running Ubuntu Touch, and Waydroid seemed like a nightmare.
Reject Convienence documented their time with dumb phone. I'm sure some people could pull it off, but I can't even get mail at my apartment without scanning a barcode. Plus barcode tickets, QR codes, 2FA...

Pizzacake used to have jokes?
Not minimal enough.
Sympathies with the poor volunteer Americans that have to put up with crappy food while bombing the wedding 💪🦅 🇱🇷
Damn, just unsubscribed. They're had some good videos.

You can reply to replies. You don't need multiple top-level comments.

Just tried Comaps and It was pleasantly acceptable.
Just installed it to compare my driving route tomorrow with Google Maps and OsmAnd crashed. Sigh.
Jfc. So how is OsmAnd these days?

You're good, I have enough secondhand embarrassment for the both of us.
Not with that attitude.
Yooooo yes, Slay! Core memory unlocked!

Assuming MTE makes a comeback in future generations...
