I think that might be because most people who go through the hurdles of setting up an account and figuring out the entire frediverse are people who are much more interested in the tech and it's applications rather than your average social media consumer who can just get all they want in a single location with a easy to understand concept
The 2 communities that I have an interest in isn't on lemmy so I tend to use both lemmy and reddit the same amount.But my mindless scrolling has decreased dramatically

i liked the idea behind it and also liked its implementation but it starts to become rather boring after some days or months of its use
Just switched recently but I feel as if the communities in lemmy produces quality content than reddit
