According to recent research, yes.

But research is lacking in the retention of skills and knowledge once the gamification is removed.

Does Duolingo create life long learners, or is it just something to pass the time and feel good about getting a score streak.

My theory is almost all Duolingo users would quit learning if Duolingo went away tomorrow and everyone has to restart at 0 on a new app/service.

I agree completely and believe it's an issue for people with disabilities too. Hopefully more and more people are taking notice and speaking out. I bet good videos help raise awareness too!

Oh gosh. Great 6 paragraph essay countering made up points I wasn't making.

Choosing Amazon for a dr recommended medicine is definitely the same as choosing it for your coffee flavoring.

Nevermind the part where I said I also use Amazon.

My point is unless you are under duress, you are responsible for your actions.

Your point is valid and definitely a concern.

But how are people so basic.

You hate Amazon, but just have to have your caramel syrup? Doesn't really sound like hate.

Sounds more like you do not want to have to make sacrifices to the things you like.

Wonder why bad things continue to happen.

I use Amazon too. Not trying to be too judgy, but come on. Accept some personal responsibility for your actions.

Just bc you do not see the effects does not mean nothing burger.

I'd suggest you look into Microsoft's EEE strategy. Or consider Activiosn's effect on Blizzard.

And these are just gaming examples.

I disagree with you too.

They never offer you the choice. The turn it on by default, and do not even inform you of how or where to turn it off.

Giving users a choice would mean an option during install or first run.

  1. How should Firefox incorporate AI on this profile? A) running when FF starts B) turn on AI at user request at time of request C) disable all AI on this profile

That to me looks like choice. I do use Firefox as my main.
