Used car markets are highly localized markets and depending on demand in the area can fluctuate wildly, just because you got a steal on a 14 year old car 3 years ago doesn't mean other people aren't struggling to find an affordable used car now.

Tariff is just a type of tax though, that only affects international goods. The only reason you'd want a tariff on top of a tax (if you're thinking rationally at least, unlike this admin) is if you were trying to incentivize domestic manufacturing of said good, which doesn't seem to be the point of your post.
Completely agree with your viewpoint on this, just want to correct that I think you meant to tax unhealthy foods. Tariffs by definition only apply to goods coming from international sources.

Mainly wanted to challenge myself to learn linux, the laptop wasn't my main driver, mainly just use it for prepping d&d sessions and some light gaming, so it wasn't a huge loss if I accidentally fucked it by doing something wrong.
The AUR is definitely a plus, and the community support is top notch. I've since swapped my main desktop to Garuda Arch and no real complaints with it for gaming other than stupid drm on MMOs. Only real gap for me is that libre/open office don't work 100% well with Microsoft office.

Thing zooms now, easily doubled the lifespan of the laptop. Only complicated bit was the switching between nvidua dGPU and iGPU, but I don't game on it much anyway
