I'm on a refurb 6a, with a relatively fresh battery. I plan to hold out for the 11a, which should have a truly better modem and Tensor chip than the 9a/10a. If not, then at least I'll have another year of updates by getting an 11a versus a 10a.

Also, I use a Supcase case, and have used the brand since 2018. Both 6as I've used have suffered many drops without breakage.

And then suddenly your kid has special needs that require constant supervision - it'll never be safe to leave them alone. For the rest of your life, you're now a caregiver, and you'll have to find someone to take over when you die. And find some way to afford all that.

And what if you birthed alone, or your fellow parent bails out or dies? Who'll take care of that child and who'll earn money? The US is deliberately built to make this devastating for anyone who's not already wealthy.

I have a special-needs pet who can't be left alone for more than a few hours. I have no desire to amplify that into a full-lifetime task.

In addition, a new state law now requires school districts to share a teacher’s misconduct history when they apply for a job at another school. This means records of terminations or potential criminal matters follow the teacher, making it much harder for someone with a history of misconduct to simply move and be rehired.

We also report every lifetime ban to NASDTEC, the national platform that tracks educator discipline across states. Already this year, NASDTEC has helped OSDE stop three former teachers from attempting to leave and continue teaching elsewhere after having their certifications revoked in Oklahoma.

Would that cops were held to the same standard.

I do not have specific advice for finding an advisor. I didn't reach FIRE suddenly, and built up my knowledge over time. Early on it was a combination of Peter Lynch, Robert Kiyosaki (I wouldn't recommend taking Kiyosaki too seriously, though), Mr Money Mustache, and a book that I recall was titled Living Without a Salary, but that may not be correct. I didn't follow exactly the advice in that last book, as it called for investing in Treasury notes. Now it's inertia plus the *fire subreddits. I use Vanguard, but as a self-directed investor.

For parking cash, have you considered credit unions instead of banks?

If you truly can't move, then you need evidence (backed up somewhere, too) and competent legal advice. It's better if this evidence-gathering is surreptitious, so they won't perform "better" during the recording.

P.S. In your jurisdiction, is it illegal to smoke near children? If it is, a tip to child protective services might be appropriate.

I played WoW for sixteen years. Finally had enough of the subscription grind, the associated FOMO, and the constant resetting of all gear progression with each expansion. Took a year off of MMOs and then picked up GW2.

BTW, GW2 doesn't have weekly downtime like WoW does.
