Well I know someone who regularly fantasizes about winning the lottery and the world of possibilities that would open up for them.

I'm sure more money could help with a lot of the stuff that life throws at you. But honestly, when I think about the things that I really want or would like to do... then it's rarely about money. For example, you want to become a photographer. It's not being unable to buy the priciest camera on the market that's holding you back. I even doubt if it's easier if you have the money to do just that.

Doesn't work for me. When I'm enjoying my activities it is just that, not being there with a plan B the back of my mind. I get that this is not what you are saying, but I find it more comforting to keep dating and activities separated.

Yeah but still... there's something really nice and basic about getting to know the primary sources. You can find a lot of secondary literature / handbooks / online courses / ... but it just can't compare to the original (albeit in translation). If you would ever decide to start studying philosophy in-depth you'll be glad you're already familiar with some fundamental works.
