Personally I'm in favor of defederating if we all agreed to it because I don't see myself ever interacting with the content. There's more than a few comments in here bringing up freedom of speech and user autonomy which are fair points. I think if we can't come to an agreement on defederating, then instead we should take wetpaper@vlemmy.net's suggestion and post a "self-moderation" wiki so that users are aware of their options and have the knowledge to control what they see in their feeds.
