@madeindex one time I was watching an (American) game show with my mum and a category was ‘shot in stages’ so I IMMEDIATELY said out loud: ‘Lincoln’. She burst into laughter but there’s no doubt that that’s extremely dark and mean. But I also knew she can laugh at those types of things.
Actually many of my other jokes make that one sound like a joke for children.
Or what I guess might be a joke for children: for I really have no clue on that. Very tame anyway.

On the other hand ... being quick witted is a great thing and really can be fun (and others find it fun too)! Still these things can become problematic even if they aren't always. As for passion (or annoyance etc.): any strong emotion breaks down rationality and even the most rational people are not truly rational even at the best of times are they?).

What I utterly reject is deliberately offending people. Intent. People should think before they act.

Neither are really useful but the former is at least understandable. Thing is not everyone will understand it. Many people also don't consider intent.

I do try and not offend people although if someone pushes their beliefs on me I might not be as kind (don't know how I would react). But that's different from sarcasm etc. and that just (in person) comes out almost immediately without any real thought. Online is another story though. I was thinking of in other ways though (next comment).

There are many fake democracies and also real democracies by design have exactly what they need to destroy them.
Also...it might start out in good intentions but that is never how it actually ends up (absolute power I mean). And I doubt it ever starts with good intentions.

That has happened even when qualified (or experienced enough). Even things I have helped with or picked up where others don’t have always had doubts even if I do just fine.
Even when I KNOW I would do just fine.
But there are a lot of kinds of power aren’t there?
And I really loathe people who abuse and deny women rights.
But again: having to deal with all that would be a huge burden.
I have always been very aware of what I am capable of and very in tune and although I can’t know how I would act in this or that situation I know that it would stress me out because I already have enough to deal with.

As a logophile who has spent hours (even as a kid) in the dictionary this type of thing gets to me very badly. When a word has its opposite meaning it makes it useless. It’s annoying that I have to reword things to avoid it. Yet on occasion it’s really the best word.

@madeindex but I have always had a dark view of life and humanity. I have never had faith in mankind.
Still I would not say a joke about religion to someone I knew is religious for example. And I would try my best for other groups too.
And some - well they’re just so appalling that I only tell a very select few friends.
Though I was actually getting at more than just jokes that’s certainly an example.

@madeindex ah yes. Well as far as jokes go I am FAR more careful. However they often just pop into my head so I have to be careful very much.
Let me put it like this. I have made people who don’t mind jokes about some of the worst things in history speechless.
They are REALLY bad but they just popped into my head.

Here’s a fun word (and then I better bugger off before something bad happens): logomachy (pl. logomachies). An argument about or over words.
