As a GenX I only became aware of this via the early days of Geek & Sundry when there was a version for Ivan and Becca when they played boardgames. It's true origins are a mystery to me. :D
It was one of the first Adobe flash cartoon things released by Mr Weebl. Original (as Video version, since flash doesn't work no more):
