Pitcher as DH?

I was watching college baseball the other day, and they had the their pitcher also serving as the DH? I was sad when the NL got the DH, but this seems like a strange way to do it. Is that common in college ball, or was this just one weird school?

I'm no college baseball expert but I don't think it's common. I wonder if we're seeing a Shohei Ohtani effect

Carlos Rodon frequently DH'ed for NC State. He was called upon to pinch hit in pressure situations, too. I had hoped he'd get drafted to an NL team just to see how he'd do against big league pitching.

That's my one local example. Not sure if that indicates a common occurrence.
