Servers and phones: Are we a joke to you?

Hubi@feddit.de · 52 pts · 3y (5 replies)

Where is Linux most popular?

LaggyKar@programming.dev · 19 pts · 3y (3 replies)

And supercomputers. And most embedded devices powerful enough to run a full OS.

lemmyworldwungo@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Don't forget steam deck and most gaming consoles

LaggyKar@programming.dev · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Most game consoles don't run Linux

Shnog@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

I believe the the Playstation is BSD based.

Though I love Linux with all my heart, i don't even recommend it to family. Mostly out of fear of having to provide tech support .

skomposzczet@vlemmy.net · 23 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Are you not already tech support for your family?

Xeelee@kbin.social · 10 pts · 3y (1 reply)

No. I only know Linux. At least that's what I tell them.

LSlowmotion@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 3y

Gotta do that from now. Thanks for the advice.

This fr ^

MrStetson@suppo.fi · 8 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I do because I already am tech support and Linux is easier than windows. Now my close family uses Linux and very rarely needs any help

atmur@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

Same here. I’m going to be tech support anyway, so they might as well be using an operating system that doesn’t break every 5 minutes like Windows. Aside from the occasional printer weirdness, I really haven’t had to do much. Linux just works.

Isn't the OS that North Korea uses technically a version of linux?

PervServer@lemmynsfw.com · 4 pts · 3y

Red Star OS is Linux. v3 was based on Fedora and uses KDE.

z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml · -8 pts · 3y (2 replies)

No. Red Star OS is Windows riced by US Government to look like Linux, lol.

SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 3y (1 reply)

z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml · -4 pts · 3y

The first interplanetary kernel!

unreliable@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 3y

I don't know if windows is running out of our planet. But I know some Linux are in some satellite thing. So Windows is an earther problem
