Anyone here considering getting the iPhone 15 pro max later this year? Is the potential price increase making you reconsider?

RockinGamr99@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 3y

I’ve never found a reason to buy a phone that large. I’m probably going to get the 15 Pro though since I need an upgrade.

errer@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3y

The phone is just physically too large, so probably not.

Corvid@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 3y (6 replies)

I love my 13 Pro Max and if the 15 Pro Max has USB-C like all the rumors indicate then it’s a day one buy for me.

KevonLooney@lemm.ee · -29 pts · 3y (5 replies)

Why? Androids are cheaper for the same phone.

AreYouNotEntertained@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 3y

Not sure if serious comment..

Alexandrite@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Boy, did you follow the wrong subredd- I mean, forum.

KevonLooney@lemm.ee · -2 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Uh lol. This shit is on All because Lemmy is about this big 🤏.

Apple phones are slightly worse hardware for more money. Here's the a comparison:

Thanks for enlightening the apple_enthusiast forum. We can go ahead and shut it down now. 👍

Except that from a soc standpoint android phones are just so much slower than iPhones it’s really not even comparable

SnowGlobal@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3y (3 replies)

I’ve been loving the size of my 11/13/14 Pros the last few years and if USB-C is a reality I’ll definitely be getting a 15 pro. But if the rumors are true about only the 15 pro max having the new periscope camera, I will be tempted to jump up to the larger phone for that.

NeonRaspberry_@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y (2 replies)

Curious, what’s the benefit to upgrading that quickly? iPhones can last a lot longer than a year, and what are you doing with the old ones?

BoomBoomLemon@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 3y

Almost zero benefit. I finally started to just use the Apple Upgrade Program and effectively look at the phone as a rental. We get a credit from work to use a device as BYOD so it ultimately is nice to simply have a new phone all the time.

SnowGlobal@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Yeah, I agree they totally last longer, but I just like new tech and get excited about new releases. The excellent condition used phones have been used as upgrades for my parents or sold on swappa.

I might have considered upgrading my 13 mini if an equivalent new model comes out. I want a smaller pocketable size, whether that’s a mini or a clamshell foldable

kobra@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I'm planning on moving from an 11 Pro to a 15 Pro, but not the Max versions, they're just to big for me.

pbanana@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

I had the same plan, but my 11 shit the bucket a week ago. I ended up getting the 14 PM, now I’m kinda glad I did.

spittin_nickels@geddit.social · 3 pts · 3y

I personally just think the pro max line is too big. I’ll be sticking to the pro for now

ironchips@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

Like clockwork I buy every year irrespective of the price 😋

tejrik@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 3y

I'm considering moving from the Pixel 6 back to an iPhone if USB-C is real. The last iPhone I had was the 5S and it was wonderful. I hated the design change and have been looking to go back since they squared off the sides again.

RealHumanBeann@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

I decided to get the 14 Pro Max after years of using a regular sized phone. The last time I used a phone this big was the 7 plus. I gotta say I like the big size!

I probably won’t be upgrading any time soon though. Not until there’s a feature or upgrade that makes it really worth it.

malloc@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I’m a maybe. I’m waiting for the official release of features in September.

If going off of rumors though, I may pass. Nothing has been exciting in iPhone releases for the past 3-4 years.

gramathy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

I’m still on an 11 pro so usb-c might be the thing that convinces me

mintberrycrunch@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

I want the bigger screen but I don’t care about extra camera stuff at all. Might consider 15 plus but want to see what cpu they put in the 15/15 plus.

Haha@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Yeah I have because I got an iPhone XS Max, need an upgrade — but that price increase sucks..

ein@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Definitely considering it. I’ve always gone back and forth between Android and iOS, and most recently went back to android because I like being able to install apps that aren’t on the centralised App/Play Store. But since I’m in the EU and they are forcing some kind of alternative app store and/or side loading on Apple (at least for us in the union) I’m feeling that my main gripe with iOS is finally getting remedied.

GrouchyLady@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

I am. I really wish the nicer camera came in the smaller phone, but I’m a sucker for a good camera.

Nogami@lemmy.world · -16 pts · 3y

I’m probably going to go with a 15 Pro. I’ve got a max now and while the screen and battery are great it may be a bit bigger than I need.

baggyspandex@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y

People are shopping for phones now like subprime borrowers shop for cars. “I don’t care. What’s the monthly payment?”

george@midwest.social · 5 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I might upgrade my 12 just because of the USB-C connection.

LetMeEatCake@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

That's a big part of why I'm going to upgrade from my 12 mini.

Also looking forward to better battery life and the higher resolution camera (which if I remember right was mostly for low light pictures?).

nudelbiotop@feddit.de · 2 pts · 3y

Anyone else not happy with that huge camera bump?

Bipta@kbin.social · 1 pts · 3y (1 reply)

iPhone 18 is just gonna look like a spider's face on a slab.

BoomBoomLemon@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3y

Eight lenses? I’m in.

Nogami@lemmy.world · -10 pts · 3y (1 reply)

So no real news then, just the same thing that’s happened every year for the past decade or so?

LetMeEatCake@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

Pro Max prices have been static since their introduction with the 11: $1100 for the base model. Pro models have also been static at $1000, although this article only mentions Pro Max price increases.
