Yeah, those dudes are gonna fuck.

Barely concealed homoerotic tension is one of my favorite old timey advertising tropes.

Are you familiar with old Soviet-Chinese propaganda posters?

I'm getting more a wife-swapping vibe...

because they are following proper beer consumption protocols, by pouring their ice cold Schlitz beer into a tall glass

EdibleFriend@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

And then Scarfy Mcgee is gonna pour is friend into a tall glass if you catch my drift.

The drift is homosexual sex.

1950’s. It’s literally right there in the bottom right. 50’s. Not 40s.

I appreciate the catch. I go through a lot of ads from that time period and it's sometimes hard to keep track.

man just barely, why you gotta freak out on him like that

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

1950 is what?

lol I'm glad I'm not the only one that got big homo-erotic vibes from that ad. Even the women seem to only have eyes for one another.

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

That is one handsome dude.

ShaunaTheDead@kbin.social · 4 pts · 2y

In that old-timey radio voice

"Now fellas, we all know that one handsome devil neighbour of ours that we wish we could hold tight on a cold night instead of our nagging wives. Well, that's where Schlitz beer comes in! Schlitz beer - lower your hunky neighbours' inhibitions against your homoerotic advances!"

Buddy's just got a dozen glass beer bottles loose in a paper bag.

jqubed@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I wasn’t sure if they still make Schlitz, but it looks like they do, now from Pabst Blue Ribbon

mosiacmango@lemm.ee · 9 pts · 2y (1 reply)

The previous company turbo fucked the recipe in the 70s. Its why it went from the #1 beer in the US to completly forgotten.

Looks like Pabst is claiming they brought back the 60's recipe. I dont think i believe them, honestly.

jqubed@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

They forgot step two, bring back the original recipe as Schlitz Classic?
