he has no opinions that matter. This is all optics. He couldn't care less if abortion was outlawed altogether or made freely available to all.

He cares just not in the way conservatives think he does. He doesn't care about the babies, mothers, rights or any of that... he cares about the votes. What can he say that will give him the most votes. Can't be to supportive of abortion, and can't be too against it. He's trying to find that sweet spot.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he "cared" about the courts in the exact same way, and look how Kavanaugh and Cannon and so on are working out. He doesn't care, but he brings along true believers who do.

On the upside, if this doesn't weigh high in his mind, he'll probably make it low priority, which is good I think.
