I would be down to join this c/ and contribute, but every time I read the word “Tankie” I think it’s reductive and meaningless. Much like when they say liberal.

I don’t know tbh. I know that it’s not helpful to make a critique and not offer an alternative . I guess I feel like it feels like when republicans call people snowlfakes, wokies, soyboys. And they do it for the same reason.
In the context of modern history it’s really not. Tankie is meaningless because the states they defend aren’t even the same states that they were when Tankie as a term was coined.
Russia is right wing Christian authoritarian oligarchy. Ran by men who yacht around the French Riviera.
China is a authoritarian mega corporatocracy that sells its shares on Wall Street, and makes iPhones for the biggest American corporation.
Those people on that /c don’t have an ideology, aside from hating the west.

I think of them as:
Faux commie edgelords.
Desperate contrarians.
Putin apologists.
CCP bootlickers.
I think it really depends on the context.
