cedarmesa@lemmy.world · 47 pts · 3y (8 replies)

💀

danwardvs@sh.itjust.works · 43 pts · 3y (4 replies)

Seems the Hot algorithm chucks in the occasional ancient post.

Cruxifux@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Bug? Or feature?

dingus@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3y

Honestly I do kind of like it! It's like unearthing a time capsule lol

danwardvs@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Beats me!

LazaroFilm@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3y

Could it be that some deep liked that post today, and that got picked up by the hot algorithm (got a new upvote) and then snowballed over here.

Contramuffin@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 3y (2 replies)

There's a known bug with the algorithm that causes old posts to pop up from time to time. Hope it gets fixed soon

Carnelian@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y (1 reply)

I think I read that it’s related to old posts being copied to new instances

can@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 3y

So someone on Lemmy.ml commented on it, causing the old thread to federate out to the instances created after it was posted?

aronkvh@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

lol I have no idea why it got popular now. Basically it was how Reddit handled this and then r/europe banned me permanently because I mentioned Lemmy. Tbh .ml wasn't the best place to join Lemmy in retrospect, I've moved to lemmy.kde.social

curious_illusions@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 3y (3 replies)

I was here for the Algo feed zombie thread revival let's go

bleph@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 3y (2 replies)

If we comment enough, we could get this zombie thread stuck in the 'Active' feed

PabloPicasshole@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Shit, it’s working.

bleph@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

Never underestimate the power of shitposting

samus12345@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 3y

2 year old post that will be relevant forever.

Flelk@lemmy.ml · 15 pts · 5y (4 replies)

Same. I'm starting the transition in earnest as of today.

Trapping5341@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Any chance you are still around to tell everyone why you guys were so ready to leave reddit w years before the rest of us? 😂

Thats fair. I didn't really even get into Reddit until 2012. So I probably never noticed plus I mostly browsed on Sync on my phone and never really dealt with the website itself which imo is where things really went down hill.

What happened?

croobat@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 3y

Bro was ahead of the curve.

CrypticFawn@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 3y

Well, this is odd.

UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 3y

I started transitioning when boost stopped

Aurix@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3y (4 replies)

What are you about?

the_frumious_bandersnatch@programming.dev · 11 pts · 3y (3 replies)

Probably this

Baaron87@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 3y

Looks like OP posted this thread two years ago, so hard to say what their reason was. That said, I hadn’t heard about that with reddit yet. Thank you for sharing that article.

Spez is crazy if he thinks that move will bring back those who have left

Chriszz@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 3y

That is going to absolutely ruin the site even more lmao

You thought karma farming bots were bad? Wait until users start posting like them too

anas@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

Oh huh, I didn’t expect them to be bleeding this much money lol
