A training montage set to music? (I'm forcing myself to not Google this first)

LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I'm over 40 and I couldn't figure out what a rocky montage was until I read your comment. now I remember what a rocky montage is. can never forget him running up the stairs, that inspirational motivational music dubbed over

bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Yeah, I guess running up the stairs makes the difference between a simple training montage and a Rocky montage.

intensely_human@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Technically concrete is a type of rock

uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Also called a gonna fly now montage. Both Rocky and The Karate Kid had flight theme elements.

morphballganon@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 2y

Also known as a training montage

blargerer@kbin.social · 25 pts · 2y

I've always heard it called a training montage.

Of course it’s that thing in Rocky Horror where the camera flashes from bedroom to bedroom in Frank’s sex castle and everybody is singing and fucking, then Janet realizes it’s NOT Brad in her bed

Dr. Scott!

tektite@slrpnk.net · 5 pts · 2y

30+ here with the answer:

"Rocky montage" is a euphemism for the sex scenes in the film Brokeback Mountain, where one guy mounts the other in front of a rocky scenery.

young people aren't stupid. we all know its internet slang when you go to your cousins place of business and beat his meat for him. /s

atx_aquarian@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y (2 replies)

In anything, if you want to go

From just a beginner to a pro

You need a montage! (Montage!)

Even Rocky had a montage (Montage!)

edit: Oh, but sorry, not under 30. I'll see myself out.

WindyRebel@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

mosiacmango@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 2y

Something that is not nearly as good as a rocky horror picture show montage.

intelisense@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I'm in my 50s and I've no fucking clue what that is. I guess I'm more out of touch than I thought...

redbr64@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

I'm nearing 40 and I think maybe I know what it is, but too embarrassed to try guessing since you say that

Blisterexe@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 2y

is it a montage in the style of the montages in the rocky movies?

Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

30+ here. For anyone wondering, it's Rocky Montagè and he is a folk singer.

Karcinogen@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Is that the moose and his flying squirrel friend?

Kolanaki@yiffit.net · 7 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Rocky was the flying squirrel. Boris was the moose. And then there were two Russian spies, Netanyahu and Bullhorn.

Squizzy@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Fuck I was about to answer, just realised I am not under 30

shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

No, I do not.

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

It's when you drop the camera while it's still filming.

jagungal@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

21, nope. I've heard of a rocky training montage, but would have no idea what you meant by a rocky montage with no other context.
