I had forgotten I even signed up for this instance, back during the grand reddit exodus.
It seems like my account has only just been activated, unlike others in this thread, because I don't have any prior emails I can find about my account since I signed up.
Confirming I also got one. I thought it might be because I created a post earlier with the web UI for the first time, but seems like maybe it's just gonna hit everyone.

I got this email too and I reminded me that maybe now my login will work, and it did! Last time I tried this, it wasn't working for me.

Just a guess, but maybe their db didn't set the flag for sending that email and they fixed it.
