Thoughts and prayers

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

They say any time God closes a door, he opens a window

YarHarSuperstar@lemmy.world · 36 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Isn't that more like sympathy?

g_the_b@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You are correct. It IS sympathy. Sympathy acknowledges the situation. Empathy acknowledges their feelings, more like "I can imagine how this situation makes you feel."

OrderedChaos@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

I'd imagine empathy being that they would emulate the feelings of those like the woman. I fully expected him to get into a panic and start crying.

toothpaste_sandwich@feddit.nl · 14 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Let's call Captain Hindsight next, I am sure he will have some good ideas.

Kolanaki@yiffit.net · 12 pts · 2y (2 replies)

"Kid shouldn't have been in the fire. Well, my work here is done. Captain Hindsight, AWAAAAAAY!"

slowly turns and walks away

bitwaba@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2y

That's Captain Obvious.

Captain Hindsight would point out leaving your scented candle burning unattended in the bathroom was a bad idea, or something like that.

Slightly different.

Bgugi@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

*maintains eye contact and moonwalks away"

He does have hindsight, after all.

The link doesn't work for me, so in case anyone else has trouble:

The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I've been noticing bugged images more often over the past week or so. I wonder what's up.

COASTER1921@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

Same. The preview works but when it loads fully it's just broken. I'm using the connect app but it's probably some buggy metadata.

moistclump@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Stop trying to FIX! I just want to feel heard.

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

We don't work that way!

nifty@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

Nah, Empathy Man would make sure the building is up to fire code and has fire escapes so the kid has less chances of getting stuck in that situation

angelmountain@feddit.nl · 5 pts · 2y (6 replies)

Discussion in all my relationships: "I just want you to listen to me, not try to fix the problem!". I think I'll just go for the guys next time I hear that...

0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 12 pts · 2y (3 replies)

They're only saying that because your suggestions aren't good enough. Keep trying to solve their problems, you'll get it eventually.

xantoxis@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It also might be he's not assertive enough. It's not enough to tell them what to do, you also have to pressure them constantly to take your advice.

MindTraveller@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2y

tbh the only reason I told my girlfriend to stop giving me advice when I'm upset is that she sucks at it. She only gives me obvious advice I already thought of and it's really annoying.

YarHarSuperstar@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

I mean, that is a legit and valid criticism/request. Have you ever tried just listening?

compassion > empathy
