Well, I am sure it is making them lots of money, which is why they keep making them. And if it sells, then that's what the game is...

I've never played one of these experiences, do you like actually go around beating up dudes and using super powers? Seems kind of bonkers if so.

I have never played one of these either, I have no idea how any of these work.
