Perez..
Not the time to be beaching the car when there are rumors of you being axed mid-season.
lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y
Seemed early to switch to slicks. Don't know who made the decision.
Microw@lemm.ee · 13 pts · 2y
Three brits on top of quali for the first time since 1968, and first time in Silverstone ever..
We truly are in a british age of F1
urquell@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y
One of them must take the win surely
hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 13 pts · 2y
Could it be floor damage for Verstappen?
Edit: Brundle confirms "significant" floor damage
Rapidcreek@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 2y
A Haas out qualifying a Ferrari? Now there's something you don't see every day.
urquell@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y
Both ferraris right?
Rapidcreek@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y
However you want to cut it. KMag out in Q1,LeClerc in Q2.
urquell@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y
I meant it as hulk is in front of both ferraris
Rapidcreek@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y
Well yes, but he really only beat Sianz head to head. Saying that doesn't do much for you except give you a marginally better starting slot.
t0fr@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 2y
Oh boy, Sergio beaches in the gravel
lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y
From the Monaco curse to now the post-Monaco curse 💀
Pringles@lemm.ee · 7 pts · 2y
Perez is having a horrid season. Parking it in the gravel in Q1 is illustrative for how his season is going.
GreenEngineering3475@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 8 pts · 2y
Is it just me or is this becoming a weekly thing now
urquell@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y
He is more often in front of perez than in front of albon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
espentan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y
Clever move by Perez. He figured most were going to out qualify him either way, so he placed the car in the gravel trap early to save the engine. /s
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 2y
Man out here playing 5D chess /s
Thade780@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y
Crofty going wild!
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 2y
This is like a wet dream come true for him
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 6 pts · 2y
That was unexpected
lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y
Three Brits at the top right now.
Considering the floor damage, Max is still doing pretty well.
Hulk also doing great.
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 2y
Damn everybody at red Bull must have had a heart attack for a moment or two
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 2y
Do sky have special sources from the teams¿? The f1tv commentary still aren't confirming that max has damage. How are sky so sure¿?
l_b_i@yiffit.net · 5 pts · 2y
There was a clear camera shot of a chip missing from the front of one of the fins on the underside of the floor.
Microw@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y
Journalists are in Whatsapp broadcast groups handled by the teams. RBR press officer sent a message into his group confirming the floor damage.
Not just a Sky thing, quite a few F1 journos are in those groups.
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 2y
Weird then that this did not reach the f1tv commentary team.
Microw@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y
Well they would need someone to look at WhatsApp during commentary, easily possible that the F1TV team felt too busy to do that
Rapidcreek@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y
Wow. That was good.
DV8@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y
Oof, comparing track dominance between Leclerc and Stroll...
Microw@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y
Perez and Ricciardo with the same mistake in the same corner lol (Ricciardo was mucky enough not to beach himself)
Microw@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y
And now Max too, something with the RB(R)s in that corner
l_b_i@yiffit.net · 4 pts · 2y
Is Redbull allowed repair (replace) the floor before the race?
hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 9 pts · 2y
I think you're allowed to repair/swap components as long as they're identical spec. No setup changes, but they should be able to put in a new one.
l_b_i@yiffit.net · -1 pts · 2y
I think that is all at the stewards discretion.
hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 2y
Doesn't read like it to me
sporting regulations (p. 48)
l_b_i@yiffit.net · 2 pts · 2y
Thanks for the source.
changed during parc ferme
From the document:
Car 01: Floor assembly (without skids and plank)
Floor keel panel
All above parts have been replaced with the approval of the FIA technical delegate following a written request from the team concerned, this being in accordance with Article 40.3 of the 2024 Formula One Sporting Regulations.
FrostyTrichs@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 2y
Short answer is yes, with identical parts otherwise it's a grid drop or pitlane start depending on what is changed and why.
l_b_i@yiffit.net · -1 pts · 2y
I think that still needs approval of the stewards.
FrostyTrichs@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y
You are incorrect.
l_b_i@yiffit.net · 1 pts · 2y
Looks like approval was needed and granted

I don't understand how or why approval would've been needed, unless Red Bull asked just to be safe?
The damage should've been covered under normally allowed repairs during parc ferme rules:
l_b_i@yiffit.net · 2 pts · 2y
I'll agree g iii could fit. If it was an out lap, or if he went into the pits at the end of the lap, the time wouldn't have been deleted, and although time was lost, was it "significant"?
And 40.3 specifies for repairs not covered in 40.2. So no harm in asking anyway, certainly better than a DQ.
FrostyTrichs@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y
The day I understand the FiA will be the day I know I've lost it.
You're definitely right that there's no harm in asking compared to a DQ.
GreenEngineering3475@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 2y
espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y
No, they have 3,5 hours to repair it.

SatouKazuma@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y
No, actually. After the post-qualification inspections, teams can replace damaged parts like-for-like with parts that are undamaged.
Microw@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y
RBR does not have an identical floor as far as they have said before the weekend. They only have this one.
lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y
Horner on F1TV just confirmed they have a replacement.
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 4 pts · 2y
No you can replace a damaged part as long the replacement part is the exact same spec
Microw@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y
And apprently they dont have a same-spec floor
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 2y
Wow max is fucked then
l_b_i@yiffit.net · 1 pts · 2y
Damage is often allowed to be repaired without breaking parc ferme. I just don't know the limits.
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 2y
Damn that is one fight for pole
t0fr@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 2y
Well now both Red Bull drivers have gone through the gravel. At least Max got back on the track
fisco@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 2y
Did Aston bring any downgrades for this weekend ?
Pringles@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 2y
They brought Lance Stroll.
Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de · 8 pts · 2y
Frankly stroll has been matching Alonso the past few weekends. Now might not be the best time for these clever jokes
Pringles@lemm.ee · 0 pts · 2y
Matching in not getting any points. Impressive stuff. Only in Canada he had points recently and there he finished behind Alonso.
FrostyTrichs@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2y
Perez: I'm in danger.
lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y
After getting pole:
Microw@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y
Max is trying to fight against the other drivers, but is fighting against his own floor
Thade780@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y
@Bademantel@feddit.de did you want rain?
Bademantel@feddit.de · 4 pts · 2y
Haha, I'm a fan of changing conditions so I got what I wanted. I'm excited about tomorrow. Did you enjoy it?
Thade780@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y
Better than expected. Would have actually loved the rain to come as they forecasted, alas.
GreenEngineering3475@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y
FrostyTrichs@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 2y
Should be a very exciting quali in these conditions.
Pringles@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y
So what are we predicting today? I think the Red Bulls, the ones not in the gravel that is, will do very well at this circuit, so I think VER will get pole, with the McLarens right behind.
