There is a KDE Plasma theme for it called Reactionary. And there are icon packs to make it look even more like Win 95/98

SimplyTadpole@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Reactionary is really good. I do wish there was an equivalent for GTK4/Libadwaita, though.

I actually use KDE Plasma myself, I just like to keep my desktop themes consistent since there are a bunch of GTK programs I use ^^'

fossphi@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y

Haven't tried it but I think the Chicago GTK themes exist Edit: aah maybe not for gtk4

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 2y

If I didn't already have two serious side projects I would do this

Wogi@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

I might switch for that

Nice, my ninth birthday is coming up, hope I'll get Yoshi's Island

SimplyTadpole@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 17 pts · 2y

That is very considerate of Windows 95, I could get used to this.

DeathbringerThoctar@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y

God I wish...

POV: It's not October yet, or is it?

Wogi@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It's October still. :)

lugal@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Ok, it's October, fine, I don't care anymore, but it's not Tuesday! It's Monday! Monday!

Arbiter@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Every month is October, every year is 1995.

lugal@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Even then: don't tell me it's Monday on a Friday!

sentientity@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

I think a few games of minesweeper would calm me down better

berryjam@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

It was a better time.

Windows 95 came out in 1996 though...

Sorse@discuss.tchncs.de · 16 pts · 2y (5 replies)

It released to retail on the 24th of August 1995, and 29 years and 1 day ago to manufacturing.

Fuck me you're right

I Mandela effected myself. I was entirely convinced that w95 only dropped in early 1996 after getting hammered by delay after delay. No idea where I got that from.

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (3 replies)

It's July 15th today, so how could it be 29 years and 1 day ago, when it released August 24th? I'm confused by your statement.

Sorse@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It released on july 14th to manufacturing

Anticorp@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Oh, gotcha. Thanks

Aatube@kbin.melroy.org · 1 pts · 2y

Of course they’d have to manufacture it before they release and sell it
