So I hear that Playstation Stars will be shutting down at the end of 2024 which sucked because it was like the one thing that at least felt like I could make free money through PlayStation. So does this really mean I'll lose any coins I make?

Stars is not shutting down, the old rewards system that Stars replaced is.

It's a way to get free money. It was a nice thing that Playstation caught up with letting people make free money kinda like Steam trading cards.
