Do you love sim racing enough to spend $2,499 on a steering wheel? / Sim-Lab used the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team’s technical designs to accurately recreate the team’s steering wheel for gamers.

Now I love me some Sim Racing. I know it’s an expensive habit that ultimately is cheaper than real life racing. But…c’mon…? Surely not?

I have sensory overload just looking at it.

I legit couldn’t cope with it…

I like the little call button. I know it's probably to radio the pit crew or whatever, but I like to imagine it's so that the f1 drivers can call home if they're feeling homesick during a race.

I’m sure that could probably be bound to a Push To Talk button or something for extra immersion!

Does it run crowdstrike?

I guess there are some people with enormous disposable incomes who would pay top dollar for this kind of immersion. I gave some serious thought to purchasing the Fanatec BMW M4 GT3 wheel they released a year or so ago. In the end, couldn't justify the ridiculous price, even for such a cool piece of kit.

True but normally this kind of full size replica is more expensive. https://www.amalgamcollection.com/collections/steering-wheels

There's no goddamn way this can be real.

Pricey, yes, but tempted. For F1 fans, like me, it looks almost like a piece of art.

harrybo93@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Can see that. But a piece of art that gets used or just kept safe? 🤣

Nolotec@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

If I’ve bought it, I would use it. And when I’m not, it would be on the wall. Best of both worlds… I’m surprised that for the price shipping is not included.

Yeah to be fair I’ve seen loads of examples where sim racers have multiple wheels that they use on display on a shelf and they just swap them out
