Huh. I'm not well versed enough on that side of it to be able to pass comment on it tbh, one of our other admins manages that. I can say that it does at least run flawlessly and we've never had an issue
Yeah, you've more or less got it- you pay if you want them to host it. But the open source is just that, in that you can entirely self host the software on your own machinery. That's exactly what we do. The only cost for us here being the cost of renting the server (Hetzner in this case).

Huh. After all the Discord shite with face verification shite, me and my community (The Gamers' Tavern) moved across to a forum first platform which also has live chat, and it has been an absolute breath of fresh air.
Why Fluxer over Stoat, there is a lot to unpack here, but self hosting was much more mature and well thought out with Fluxer. Worth noting that while Klipy is headed up by ex Tenor employees, Google has also heavily invested in Klipy.
At my community (The Gamers' Tavern) we ditched Discord (when all the age verification crap started) in favour of Discourse and Fluxer (Discord clone, but open source and self hostable) and currently Klipy integration is offering a sketchy and vague pricing model that is looking like it is going to include ads.
So, that's the vein that runs through all of this. Google killed Tenor, funded a new startup that'll eventually likely be somewhere they can of course shove ads into.
I have, it was my go to before EA WRC came along. Honestly? Its not that its a bad game, but it leans more into the arcadey style of sim racing physics and that's fine, but it's not really my vibe.
Its a shame because some of the engine sounds from that game were the best of all time still to this day, imo. Not to mention having Welsh and Scottish stages! I miss those.
The realism and detail of the stages in ACR is like nothing I've seen elsewhere. Every other game is just flat and like a ribbon. I guess that's laser scanning for you!
I can't personally say I noticed too much trouble with the throttle model in RWD (then again, I mostly main the Stratos and 037), what is it you think about it? Not saying you're wrong, just curious
Yeah I totally feel you there. I very nearly pulled the trigger on Evo but then they announced that they weren't doing the free roam or something which was like the main selling point imo. Otherwise it's just....Assetto Corsa again 🤷♂️
Same! I think I tried it once a long time ago and immediately wrote it off haha. But actually, as I've discovered this time round and in the videos, if you drive with real caution and respect to start with, you get a sense of how the car behaves and can slowly ramp up the aggression you put into it. Very satisfying learning experience tbh
Yeah fair point lol. Wouldn't surprise me if AI "worker" shit the bed as a result of it though and caused the problems in some way shape or form

I don't think any of that is an issue if you're running self hosted. We literally don't get any of that info/use any of it lol.
...is it? Even on PWA? I've used Vivaldi, Safari, Zen and Firefox with no trouble (and on Desktop variants too)
