I don't really know what to make of this. It reads like it's a standalone mobile game that just happens to use the same setting. Is it just an attempt from square enix to go after that mobile game money? Or am I being to cynical here?

It looks like they're just making a mobile game in the 14 universe. It's a mobile game so until proven otherwise I'm guessing it's going to be a money sucking gacha type game that happens to have an ff14 skin, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
