Shattered Pixel Dungeon, popular roguelike (as in, actually like Rogue)

felbane@lemmy.world · 34 pts · 1y (7 replies)

Mindustry, factory based sandbox tower defense (mobile Factorio)

redd@discuss.tchncs.de · 16 pts · 1y
TheLongPrice@lemmy.one · 7 pts · 1y (4 replies)

How are the mobile controls?

redd@discuss.tchncs.de · 8 pts · 1y

Playable for sure, but in bigger battles its complicated to keep an overview over big maps

murmelade@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Very frustrating for people with fingers.

TheLongPrice@lemmy.one · 2 pts · 1y

(☞゚ヮ゚)☞

felbane@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1y

Honestly I much prefer playing on desktop, but it's playable on mobile if a bit frustrating.

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 1y

It isn't quite like Factorio.

It is better

felbane@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Unciv, 4x civilization game.

MajorHavoc@programming.dev · 26 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Luanti a game engine that runs an Open Source massively moddable Minecraft clone, among other games.

supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz · 7 pts · 1y

This one deserves a nice big bold underline, this project has already come such a far way!

MajorHavoc@programming.dev · 22 pts · 1y

Simon Tatham's Puzzles contains many classic puzzle games and many more that are destined to be future classics.

namingthingsiseasy@programming.dev · 20 pts · 1y

lichess has finally published it's mobile version on f-droid.

droidfish is another great alternative chess game, though with no online component.

there's also endless sky

squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de · 18 pts · 1y

Antimine Minesweeper

felbane@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Feudal Tactics, conquer-the-world strategy game with randomly-generated levels

Valmond@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Is it an Antiyoy clone?

Antiyoy is a nice little game, it just lacks some depth IMO.

redd@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 1y

Sometimes a bit too random. The start positions heavily influence the winning probability

MajorHavoc@programming.dev · 15 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Pixel Dungeon a rogue-like that is very like Rogue.

redd@discuss.tchncs.de · 14 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Since this is not updated or maintained anymore, there is a spin off with very active development: https://github.com/00-Evan/shattered-pixel-dungeon

MajorHavoc@programming.dev · 5 pts · 1y

Ooh, great point!

felbane@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1y

Great minds think alike.

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 1y

It looks like it is build for a older version of Android

passiveaggressivesonar@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 1y

Not sure if someones mentioned it yet but unciv is civ V

felbane@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Rabbit Escape, basically Lemmings with cute bunnies. Don't let them splat!

nailingjello@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 1y

Thanks for this one. Hadn't seen it before and I used to love Lemmings games.

felbane@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y

Xeonjia: Ice Adventures, extremely cute sliding-ice puzzle game

ace_garp@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 1y

Box Stacker

A physics puzzle-game.

Join the sticky 'tetrominoes' to move a ball/box/car to the scoring zone.

Includes online leaderboard to view the solutions of players around the world. A faster finish with less total pieces is better.

Challenging and fun game, with a quality physics model.

https://f-droid.org/packages/net.artificialworlds.boxstacker/

lgsp@feddit.it · 7 pts · 1y

Apotris is probably the best version if tetris available, and it's foss.

You can get a compiled ROM for GBA and play it on android with a FOSS emulator like Lemuroid. It works!

nossaquesapao@lemmy.eco.br · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Does forkyz count? I got addicted into crosswords recently, and this one is nice.

MITM0@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Sure

felbane@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Chip Defense, an interesting and challenging take on tower defense.

Jayjader@jlai.lu · 2 pts · 1y

I got really into chip defense. The concept is a really fun twist on classic enemy hp mechanisms in tower defense. However I think the game's controls design "scales" poorly with its difficulty curve. Building a new "tower" takes too many taps for the game to continue running in the background. Same for upgrading towers. The worst is when starting a level, you kind of need to rush placing towers to not mechanically end up in a fail state.

If the game let you build and upgrade when paused (or at least queue up those actions to be executed when un-paused) I would have continued playing it.

CorrodedCranium@leminal.space · 6 pts · 1y

I've played a lot of Lato. It's a simple skiing game where you tap the screen to jump and can hold to rotate yourself in the air. There are rocks and pits to avoid and coins to collect.

Good for killing awkward amounts of time.

Auster@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Or should be made available

Could, then, people here in the comments bring FOSS games from other sources too?

MITM0@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 1y

As long as it can be played without any issues on AOSP/De-Googled-Android

AnnaFrankfurter@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 1y
berryjam@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

1010 Klooni

redd@discuss.tchncs.de · 7 pts · 1y
felbane@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

Thank you for this one, this is basically one of the games that I get advertised on Duolingo after completing a lesson (the "playable ad" kind) and it sucks me in every time. Nice to have a version that's FOSS.

Now, if someone would just implement a FOSS version of that "wooden screw puzzle" game I'd be over the moon.

fnie@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 1y

I enjoyed Space Trader.

Godnroc@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1y

Gauguin, a kenken style sudoku-like game where you place numbers in a grid.

A simple, fun math game with nice customization and difficulty settings.

Modanung@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

In the category of "should be made available" here's some LucKey Productions titles that could be compiled for Android and are suitable for playing on mobile:

I (main developer) however do not own a smartphone. Come aboard the Colourship if you'd like to help out!

siipale@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 1y

Regex Crossword. Unfortunately it doesn't have as many puzzles as the non-FOSS alternative.

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Luanti, Mindustry, vector pinball, super tux cart and Tux rider.

Honorable mention: Tailscale+Moonlight (game streaming)

tetris11@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

vector pinball is amazing

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 1y

I never play it as it gets boring after a while.

Cool app though

@MITM0@lemmy.world sorry, that was a Mastodon post, but it showed up as a comment on your Lemmy thread.

monnier@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 1y

I really liked Flowit. I wish there were more of it (tho admittedly when I go back to it, I have often forgotten enough that it's fun again)

supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 1y

I really want to figure out how to play Xonotic on mobile using cod-mobile style claw touchscreen controls...

stardust@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 1y

Egyptian Mouse Pounce. Fun simple card game against cats I like to play to mindlessly pass the time.

chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de · 0 pts · 1y (2 replies)

no, but you can download in the link that I shared

redd@discuss.tchncs.de · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Which is now deleted!?

chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de · 0 pts · 1y

yes, I deleted because it is not from F-Droid

tetris11@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 1y

Klondike Solitaire

(just kidding there are literally no good freecell or solitaire games on f-droid, go look I implore you!)

MITM0@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Talking about Games that need to be FOSSified, I think it would be cool if we had FOSS clones of:-

  • Plants vs Zombies
  • Angry Birds
  • Lonely Hacker
  • Sim City (Any City-Building game)
Ramin_HAL9001@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 1y

For an Angry Birds clone, check out Apple Flinger

For a SimCity-like game, check out OpenTTD (Transport Tycoon Deluxe)

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 1y

If we are talking a about apps we wish were Foss here is my list:

  • Bad piggies

  • Stumble guys

  • Age of Empires (now discontinued but I want a spiritual community continuation)

  • Clash of clans

ace_garp@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y (2 replies)

These two are already FOSS,

but I would be happy if H-Craft Championship could be added to f-droid. (basically wip3out hover-racing)

Also, Gravity Defied is an excellent trials-bike mountain climber, similar to xmoto. It currently does not install for me in f-droid.

moonpiedumplings@programming.dev · 2 pts · 1y (1 reply)

https://hexgl.bkcore.com

Not on android, but it does have a web version with touch controls.

ace_garp@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

This looks excellent, thanks!
