McDonald's Japan is currently running its first collaboration campaign with the popular anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025.

The second collaboration includes three types of burgers: “Zakkiri Potato & Thick Beef Delicious Garlic Mayo,” “Mexican Cheese Chicken,” and “Cheese Double Teriyaki,” which are made with an original bun inspired by the “A.T. Field” that appears in the anime and are characterized by their large volume. Evangelion Burgers will be available at McDonald's restaurants nationwide for a limited time starting January 6, 2025.

I thought Japan had rather strict rules on advertising food products, particularly with scale. This ad has the burgers depicted at all sorts of sizes, from hand, to 3 storey house, to football stadium.

I remember seeing a recent ad for noodles that used photorealistic depictions of their product in the hands of anime characters.
