You'd be surprised. Most submarines shoot missiles straight up or torpedoes straight forward.

They also dive and if the hunt from red october taught me anything it was they can tilt when they dive

The angles aren't crazy, but you're right. It tends to knock shit off of tables and out of random lockers. They aren't gimbaled, but subs totally do have cupholders clipped onto everything possible.
