Not smart enough to stay away from ultra processed foods. That shit’ll kill ya.

Way too smart to give a damn about dying though 🎉

isn't this basically cannibalism?

or are chickens far enough from crows like us and cows?

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world · 64 pts · 1y (8 replies)

Not even close to cannibalism. And yes, it would be much more like humans and cows because 'bird' is as broad a category as 'mammal.' Some predatory birds only eat other birds.

oyfrog@lemmy.world · 45 pts · 1y (1 reply)

A crow eating chicken and a human eating beef are actually really good parallels. Crows and chicken are 91 million years diverged while cows and humans 94 million years diverged.

evolution is so stupid sometimes. did you know whales' ancestors were not only land animals but also looked like funky deers? fur and all included & they share that ancestor with hippos

wjrii@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Squid actually posted something about this on !science@lemmy.world a week or so ago. If I didn't quite fall down the rabbit hole of cetacean evolution, I at least tripped over it.

shneancy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

nice! :D glad the silly facts of evolution are getting attention

If there are chicken nuggets, are there crow nuggets?

FlyingSquid@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 1y

Not if you want to keep your eyes.

roguetrick@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1y

Corvids aren't against eating other birds (jays make slaughtering nestlings a pastime) and chickens aren't against eating other chickens. Overall I consider it morally neutral from the crow perspective.

Maybe they already are?
