I'm convinced that one of my cats tries to get kicked, so then she can get tons of attention.

I call this "following from the front," and some dogs and humans seem to love it, too.
Chihuahuas do this a lot and it's really fucking annoying.

I would happily keep walking, pushing my cat out of the way with my foot. He's light and resilient, and I don't usually walk fast inside. However, I don't want to step on his paw, which will actually hurt him.
