In the end, as long as it is properly secured to a beam, you can hang a few pals from it and it will work.

You see you just have this special smoke detector and an actual detector in the same room, no one's gonna notice.
The amount of places I've lived with old, busted, hard-wired smoke alarms replaced with newer battery operated ones.
Did you check them for hard points underneath?
Huh? I've never done what is shown in the OP, was just pointing out that redundant, old smoke detectors are pretty common. Therefore, it won't arouse suspicion if you have two in a room.
I think the fingerprints and smudges are going to be more telling than a second detector.
