No, Microsoft won't tell you how to uninstall its Edge web browser, which is heavily integrated into Windows 11.

It should get them a fine for false advertising, plus get ms links demoted in search engines.

Some Linux distribution could buy a spot on that list of search results.

jol@discuss.tchncs.de · 8 pts · 1y

Buy a spot on Bing results? You think you can win on their home turf?

Because Linux organizations are known for having big budgets.... not

And for using their money for ads...

It is kind of against the general ethics of Linux as well. Targeted advertising isn't big in the Linux world.

chaosCruiser@futurology.today · 1 pts · 1y

Fair enough. Placing ads among search results can get really expensive.

Me: Uninstall Edge.
Them: You can't uninstall Edge.
Me: Why not?
Them: It's integrated into Windows
Me: So I can uninstall Edge
Them: No, I just said--
Me: Uninstall Windows
Them: No wait!

Didn't they get in trouble years ago for the same "integrated" bullshit with IE?

recentSloth43@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y

Oh yeah, and they definitely learned their lesson by paying 0.00001% of the profits they made by doing it. So for sure this is not the same thing because that "punishment" totally worked, right?.... Right!? ʘ‿ʘ

Best way is use Linux.

possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 1y

You can just install Edge as a Flatpak. Problem solved /s

I use Edge for exactly one thing: Power Automate.

I know you can use it on other browsers but for my very simple purpose, it fits the bill.

Every fucking time, the browser asks if I want to make it default. The answers are "Yes" and "Not now".

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO "NO, DON'T ASK ME AGAIN"?!

That option has been removed for your convenience. Isn't nice to not have control over the hardware you paid for?
