My bestie played a Durge run first and warned me not to try it because of how dark and edgy it is, especially since I like wholesome stuff. Turns out it's incredibly wholesome if you don't play it the way she did. I love my sweet little sad boi.
When I finally get back to the game, I'm definitely playing full evil-in-leather-pants Durge first, but I want to do sad Durge who just wants to do good after that ðŸ˜

I just started my first Durge run and I am still debating on going full evil or another good guy run (I just finished my first pretty good Tav - really only lost like 2 tieflings).
Same. I am really glad I went in blind on a Durge play through. I unexpectedly ended up romancing Astarion, and I really loved how that dynamic unfolded. I think in Act 2, Astarion even says something like "huh, I guess we're more alike than I realised". I just love my party of traumatized weirdos who are desperately trying to forge a life of agency and hope, and wholesome Durge is the epitome of that
I knew you got a whole bunch of evil options as Durge but thought it was just extra backstory, I was not prepared for the scripted atrocities I would commit. To me it did not feel wholesome but I did stop in the middle of act two.
I decided to just restart and go full evil telling myself that if I have an evil choice and it does not get Minthara/Astarion disapproval or kill a companion I would pick it. That made me feel a lot less bad about it since I was just following my own rules.
