That was a different time. Patriotism was at a peak and most bought into the fabricated weapons of mass destruction evidence. At least long enough for it to be too late when we all realized it was all a lie.
Seriously tho, all those National Guard gunboat operators and snipers around Maralago has gotta be thinking "What guarantees do I have after I'm done serving?"

There's no reason being in the military should guarantee you a federal job. But the idea is right; we should actually be taking care of these people.
