this is a five minute walk from my new place ๐ It's more of a snorkleing at the reef place but there is sand too, if I want big sand I can walk another 10 minutes
Ah, very familiar landscape for me. I think I mentioned I grew up near there? I wanted to spend much more time there but my folks couldn't swim and were afraid of the water lol
Made chunky bolognaise in the Thermomix we inherited from my dad and it fucking rocked. Wasn't sure about the worcestershire sauce and the chilli flakes, but went with it - very glad I did.
True. But you really have to be careful to balance out the salt in vegemite. Worcestershire sauce has spice & umami but a whole lot less salt so I find it easier to use, especially by the splosh measurement. One of my faves is to dribble it on hot buttered brussels sprouts.
Cover your roof with tinfoil to prevent them electronically scanning you, then put a layer of camouflage tarp over the top so they think it's just a vacant lot.
My kid did a little tidy up in my kitchen yesterday. The kettle was unplugged, the frying pan was put in the cupboard where it doesn't belong, green teabags mixed in with English breakfast and I don't know where the sweet potato went that was on the bench.
gave five guys another go today. Second time for them and holy shit the bacon is so bloody good! Took a lacteeze so I could get that sweet sweet plastic cheese as well. Thats what I was missing the first time. Incredible! 30 something bucks for the bacon cheeseburger, small chips and a coke though. a rare treat then.
I definitely listed my coffee grinder too low when I put it on Marketplace (leading to a huge number of responses). I put it on eBay late afternoon yesterday for more than twice that amount and it has sold already. I guess those things hold their value more than other small appliances. And I almost took it to the op shop instead of bothering to list it!
Getting up when it's still dark, but not too cold is one of life's great pleasures. Seeing the sun rise illuminate the parklands. Seeing people walking, jogging and riding their bikes first thing. And of course seeing rubbish strewn (yes STREWN) all over the court because the rubbish truck driver could not be bothered to stop and clean it up.
Not my bin thankfully, but it's been cleaned up, council notified and note left for neighbour that their bin hasn't been emptied.
excitedly planning out purchases for the van. We threw away/donated tons of stuff and are basically starting again (plus I don't wanna carry heavy glass and china that looks pretty breakable) and we have tons of our own camping gear we can just put in the van but now I'm just filling the gaps. I can finally justify bringing a kettle and toaster.
I still love camping in my swag, and I'll still do it from time to time. But camping with power (until I can get a basic offgrid system) its going to be very very nice!
Got tanks on standby and standby tanks also on standby and bought meself a transfer pump that screeches like a beansidhe and sucks like a gold tier cock gobbler
Augh. I am not feeling good. Really dehydrated and been sleeping all day because I couldnโt get up. Spent it sipping ginger ale between naps.
Went out and did the bare minimum for garden. Water, then some eco oil and fungicide spray on the pumpkins. Theyโre getting bigger but aphids found them and thereโs also powdery mildew and whiteflies starting.
I found a ladybug on the dying zucchini and thought to move it over to prey on the aphids but wasnโt sure if the sprays would harm it.
One of the peas washed to the surface - it seems to have swelled and might sprout. Covered it with dirt again.
I trimmed my hair last night. I seem to be getting worse at it, but oh well. Tried a new way then gave up and did the usual. It looks acceptable and is back to a more manageable length.
I meant to set up my uni stuff last night. Ended up having a 2 hr phone call from a friend in distress... Every cell of my being is happier that I used the time to help a friend when nobody else could've (it was a very specific situation)
But I ended up only finishing data prep at 1pm today. It's now too late for me to collect data today. I have "wasted" the one last suitable day (clear sunny skies) in quite a while and I may not be able to hit my Absolute Latest Deadline of collecting all the data by the end of the month :/
I've accepted that I made my choices (esp slacking on the weekend, which would've avoided this whole situation)... and tbh I had such poor sleep and other issues that frankly I really need the rest more than anything else.
Now to just desperately hope there's just a couple more sunny midday periods before the end of the month ๐ ๐๐ฝ
Accuweather and BoM have wildly different forecasts for next Monday in the northern suburbs. Please let Saturday and Monday be sunny enough, pleaaaase
I've been watching Peaky Blinders because I never have. It's not as good as I expected it to be. Feels a bit generic olde London town crimey. It's not bad and it's well acted but I'm don't see what all the fuss was about.
Ah two practical assessments submitted and one quiz passed. Quite a bit left to do, but I have over 2 weeks until the due date for them, so I'll be fine. I'm planning on submitting the rest tomorrow/over the weekend, so I have a couple of weeks to review and change anything if the teachers ask me to.
I feel damn good lol
