I like to mention LibreCAD as well.

While it's developed by an international team, it's free and open source and from first hand experience excelent for 2D drawing e.g. floor plans - we didn't have an accurate one for our appartment before.

Don't forget the amazing open source FreeCAD!!!

OpenSCAD is different but also awesome: https://openscad.org/

Shouldn't SolidWorks be on the list, because it's from Dassault Systems?

Is Siemens NX not European?

multigers@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 1y

Yes, SolidEdge also!

Anyone have experience with any of these?

SrMono@feddit.org · 3 pts · 1y

Sadly not. But I‘m fine with the new Freecad release but it is always good to know some options.

I used CATIA professionally. It's a beast.

I was working on machining parts for the aircraft engines that powers most Airbus and Boeing and we were using Catia for the design and machining of the engines.

From their website: Quarterly subscription: $2,268 per quarter Annual Subscription: $7,560 per year

I thought AutoCAD was expensive…
