Good simple introduction to an early computer simulation showing complex emergent behaviour from simple rules.

For people like me wondering what a "boid" is:

The name "boid" corresponds to a shortened version of "bird-oid object", which refers to a bird-like object.

I suppose you could also imagine it as a way to say "bird" with an accent?

Now onto the video.

The site linked in the video description is worth taking a look at for the rules of Boids by its original creator, Craig Reynolds, as well as for if you want more Boids or flocking in general.
