Cannot claim an instance because of API error both with or without mastodon

I have the same problem. It shows this error:

There was an api error: We could not discover any admins for this instance software. Please Ensure your software exposes this info. If it's exposed in a novel manner, consider sending us a PR to be able to retrieve this infomation.

Perhaps it is because I have a PieFed instance and not Lemmy?

Does piefed report the admins in the nodeinfo in the same way lemmy does?

I saw rimu is already in contact with rikudou about it in the piefed matrix chat. It seems there are several things preventing it from working.
