Aside from the main point of the article, how the fuck does it happen that someone votes since 1991 even though he's not eligible?
Does no one check that? Where I live, they have a list of people who can come to a vote in that specific region and unless you can present an official ID proving you're that person, you can't vote.
Why are you lying? Lemmy creators are not leftists, they advocate for people getting murdered by the state, they advocate for authoritarianism and control of population. That's why people dislike them, not because they're "leftists."

Well, the only path I see is to not participate which is what I did when Facebook let me down years ago, then the same with Reddit and now Lemmy.

That simply isn't true. It's really great at a certain kind of tasks. And it does help you be more productive if you learn to use it well.
