I did think of "roar" for a moment, but then I decided that it couldn't be the connection, because Perry says in the song that she roars like a lion. So the only reason she roars is because lions roar. Katy Perry doesn't roar normally. Oh well...

..."words with a G not pronounced as a hard G". I couldn't see blue until I eliminated green and yellow. Purple was nowhere on my radar.

I would call it an accessory rather than apparel. They are most often used by performers and are generally considered 'Campy".
