It would be a shame if somebody posted weekly reminders.

Blaze@feddit.nl · 45 pts · 1y (2 replies)

The mods might consider that "excessive promotion", they've already given @buyeuropean@feddit.org a warning when he posted https://buy-european.net/en, probably because it "competes" with their own website

jol@discuss.tchncs.de · 38 pts · 1y

The moment it becomes a competition, everyone lost. We should be cooperating. If they are saying it's competition, they are trying to gain something from it and should be avoided.

whaleross@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 1y

Everything is a commodity. Sucks.

reactionality@lemmy.sdf.org · 28 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Of course it was, did anyone expect any different?

Blaze@feddit.nl · 15 pts · 1y

I was still giving the mods the benefit of the doubts.

atro_city@fedia.io · 22 pts · 1y

Bootlicking reddit mods. Who would've thought?

experiencetheworld@feddit.org · 21 pts · 1y (11 replies)

How dare you trying to help the people. How dare you promoting a plattform:

  • without adds
  • with free speech (without centralized censorship)
  • that is decentralized
  • that is open source
  • without a company behind it
  • with all the same features
  • run by the people who use it
Blaze@feddit.nl · 6 pts · 1y

You can replace "with free speech" with "without centralized censorship"

StJohnMcCrae@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 1y (8 replies)

Free speech that the mods agree with that is. I was perma banned for c/Europe for privately objecting when a moderator removed this image I posted in a reply decrying antisemitic conspiracy theories in their forum. The mods left the libelous post up, and deleted my sarcastic, but otherwise civil response.

Maybe my opinion was wrong, but it certainly wasn't dangerous, hateful, threatening or intentionally misleading, as the original post was. Lemmy has a lot going for it, but let's not pretend that free speech on this site is anything other than window dressing. The Mods are still judge, jury and executioner inside their fiefdoms.

It just hasn't become a problem for the majority of users, because we're a relatively small, ideologically homogeneous community. If the fediverse ever becomes mainstream, you'll start seeing that freedom of speech disappear as moderators sort out the dissenters, and authoritarians work their way into positions of authority.

Yeah turns out speech here isn't so free when your opinions run counter to what the mods deem politically correct.

Which is the whole point of freedom of speech.

Blaze@feddit.nl · 0 pts · 1y (5 replies)

The second point addresses that

StJohnMcCrae@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Yeah I'm sure I'll have much better luck on the .ml instance ๐Ÿ˜…

Blaze@feddit.nl · 0 pts · 1y (3 replies)

!europe@sopuli.xyz ?

StJohnMcCrae@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 1y

Has 100 members and only one person has ever posted there.

TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

free speech how? I thought there were some limitations on legality since a lot of servers are from different countries and don't have the same laws

meldrik@lemmy.wtf · 16 pts · 1y (7 replies)

So the mods removed a 48 days old post just all of a sudden?

Blaze@feddit.nl · 16 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Not sure if it's the mods or Reddit. I used to link to it quite a lot, so maybe that raised an alert to the admins

meldrik@lemmy.wtf · 17 pts · 1y (4 replies)

It must mean itโ€™s making a difference, to the point where someone is trying to censor it.

Blaze@feddit.nl · 11 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Reddit has the real numbers about human active users.

At this point they must notice a drop due to all the automated bans, and must fear thar people will notice too and look for an alternative

WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Linking to another Reddit post or comment is a single point of failure. Link to an external site/blog, and maybe use url shorteners if direct links get auto-modded. Linking to Lemmy directly will probably get auto-modded too.

Remember, Reddit is a part of the fascist propaganda machine, so don't expect too much.

Blaze@feddit.nl · 8 pts · 1y

I am well aware, but the Reddit posts had a lot of upvotes and positive comments, so it appeared more trustful to Reddit users potentially interested in joining Lemmy.

If you have a blog, feel free to host that post over there, I would then link to it.

SrMono@feddit.org · 1 pts · 1y

Wishful thinking.

starlinguk@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1y

Elmo's cronies have been trawling Reddit lately.

p_kanarinac@retrolemmy.com · 14 pts · 1y

No wonder. Reddit is very censored and allows no competition.

c0re22@europe.pub · 13 pts · 1y

So sad to see such miserable people censoring in order to keep their moderation privileges in a random site on the internet.

Blaze@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 1y

Good point!

Hello_there@fedia.io · 8 pts · 1y

So... Just change account names and start promoting mbin. It's a different word and the word search band can't find it. Don't say 'fediverse' - say 'federated servers' too to avoid that one.

Pirata@lemm.ee · 8 pts · 1y

Very sad to see. I wonder why?

MemmingenFan923@feddit.org · 4 pts · 1y (2 replies)

The second link (lemm.ee ...) doesn't work for me. See screenshot below

gon@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 1y

Weird... It works for me, and I'm using Thunder too.

petrescatraian@libranet.de · 2 pts · 1y

It stayed up long enough. Now ChatGPT should know it by heart.
