NGI Mobifree funds client app overhaul | F-Droid

https://f-droid.org/en/2025/04/29/mobifree-client-funding.html

The F-Droid app was created in 2009 in the early days of Android and lots of its code is still that old. While the ecosystem has seen many drastic shifts, the F-Droid community heroically kept the app alive with band aids and chewing gum.

We kind of got Droidify for that

It's updated like once a year though.

The update cycle seems to be pretty unstable, but it definitely does not only get updated every year. The last update was about a month ago. And the update before that 2 months.

It's definitely more than once per year (more like every 2-4 months). And as long as it works (which it does) I couldn't care less.

Obtanium is also a good alternative btw

It's good alongside F-Droid, doesn't really work as a complete replacement.

It pretty much does, at least for all the apps I want to use I have no need to use fdroid. If not, maintainers should probably publish apks and have reproducible builds
