The server was migrated. It took around 4 minutes downtime. For those who asked, it now uses a dedicated server with a AMD EPYC 7502P 32 Cores “Rome” CPU and 128GB RAM. Should be enough for now.

Though this was 3 years ago. I don't know if they changed the server or not since then.

It is also very important to note that this is not only used for lemmy.world, but also mastodon.world. And by now, it probably is also used for other services the Fedihosting foundation hosts: https://fedihosting.foundation/

Single user instances are fairly cheap to run though, if you are interested in that. I've been running this instance on a cheap Hetzner VPS for about 1.5 years and haven't experienced any major problems since.
